JDCC baseball wins non-conference game Tuesday against Lawson

The Jefferson Davis Community College Warhawk baseball team picked up their 11th win in 13 games Tuesday as they doubled up Lawson State 8-4. The win for the Warhawks improved JDCC to 19-17 overall.
JDCC led Lawson 1-0 after one inning and 2-0 after two inning before falling behind 3-2 in the third inning.
After tying the game at 3-all in the fourth, JDCC took a 4-3 lead in the sixth inning only to give up one run to Lawson in the bottom of the eighth.
With the game tied at 4-all heading into the final inning, JDCC plated four runs in the ninth and held Lawson scoreless in the bottom half of the inning to seal the win by four.
For the Warhawks at the plate, Hunter Myrick went 2-for-4 while Taylor Fought had one hit and two RBIs.
Logan Hill went 1-for-2 with a double and Brandon Davis went 1-for-2.
Dake Rivers added two hits for JDCC along with Brandon Goins. Going has one RBI along with Taylor Baynes and Michael Fox.
Baynes went 2-for-2 with a double while Fox had one hit in the win.
On the mound, Roman Donofro, Jacob Fillmore, Mitchell Peterson, Tyler Henry, and Dylan Johnson all pitched. Henry was the pitcher of record.
All JDCC’s pitchers combined to go nine innings and allowed six hits, four runs, one earned, walked two, hit two and struck out five.
JDCC will be back in action Thursday and Saturday at home when they host conference rival Alabama Southern. The two teams will tangle Thursday in Brewton at 1 p.m. in a nine inning game.
On Saturday, JDCC and Alabama Southern will play a 9 and 7 inning doubleheader starting at noon.
Alabama Southern swept JDCC earlier in the year in Monroeville.
