Greenville sweeps Brewton’s Advanced Babe Ruth Dawgs

Already with a 0-3 record against Greenville this season, the Brewton Dawgs fell to 0-5 Monday night as Greenville swept a doubleheader from the Dawgs.
Brewton lost game one 5-3 and game two 4-0. The two losses dropped Brewton to 13-11 overall this season.
The team was scheduled to play their final home game of the season Tuesday night in Brewton against Covington County.
The Dawgs are scheduled to play in the Mobile Raw Dogs Tourney Saturday and Sunday in Spanish Fort.

Game one: Greenville 5, Brewton 3
Leading Greenville 3-0 after one inning, Brewton fell to five unanswered runs to take a two-run loss by a score of 5-3.
Greenville scored one run in the second inning, three in the fourth inning, and one more in the fifth.
Dalton Simmons took the loss on the mound for Brewton as he went the complete game five innings and allowed 10 hits, five runs, three earned, walked two, struck out two and hit one batter.
Tyler Joyner led Brewton at the plate with a double while Rob Jones had an RBI single in the first inning. Damion Williams chipped in one RBI in the loss.

Game two: Greenville 4, Brewton 0
In game two Monday, Brewton’s bats struggled at the plate again as Greenville shutout Brewton 4-0.
Greenville scored three runs in the second inning and one in the fifth to get the four-run win.
Darby Black, Sam Frazier, and Tim McDonald all had one single each for Brewton.
On the mound, Caden Lodge took the loss as he went four innings and allowed four hits, three runs, two earned, walked three and struck out one.
Frazier went one inning and allowed one hit, one run, hit one, and struck out one batter.

In a busy stretch of games recently for the Brewton Advanced Babe Ruth Dawgs, the Dawgs went 2-3 to move to 13-9 overall this season.
Brewton opened their stretch of games with a 6-2 loss and a 6-5 loss to Greenville on Thursday.
In the Covington County tournament, Brewton went 2-1.
The Dawgs opened with a 6-1 win over Straughn before falling again to Greenville by a score of 3-1.
Brewton ended the tourney with a 13-10 win over Wiregrass Athletics.

Greenville sweeps Brewton
Lane Clark and Stokes Jennings pitched in the first game loss to Greenville. Clark gave up four runs in the first and one in the second while Jennings gave up one in the fourth inning (weekday games are 5 inning doubleheaders) and all runs were earned. Tyler Joyner and Mike Williams each doubled in the game.
Russell Smith started the second game and went three innings giving up five hits and three runs (all earned) while Jennings relieved in the fourth and gave up three runs on four hits (two earned).
Mike Williams and Damion Williams both had doubles with Joyner and Chris Jones adding singles.

Dawgs 6, Straughn 1
In the Covington County tournament, Darby Black went the full seven innings allowing only four hits and one run. Dalton Shell and Tyler Joyner both had doubles with Joyner also adding a single, while Caden Lodge had two singles.

Greenville 3, Dawgs 1
Tyler Joyner pitched seven strong innings giving up only five hits and three runs (all unearned) while striking out nine.
Black, D. Williams, and Joyner all had hits in the game with Dylan Godwin picking up the lone RBI with a sacrifice fly.

Dawgs 13, Wiregrass Athletics 10
Dalton Shell, Caden Lodge, and Dalton Simmons all pitched in the five-inning game, called due to the time limit.
Mike Williams, Rob Jones, and Derrick Barton all had doubles with Joyner, and Damion Williams adding singles.
