Brewton 10U CR baseball team rallies to advance to state semifinals

Down 3-2 in the bottom of the sixth inning, and three outs away from their first loss at the state tournament Monday, and three outs from elimination, Brewton’s 10U all-stars rallied to get a 4-3 win over Sumter.
In the inning, Brewton plated two runs to stave off elimination and get the win by one.
Brewton trailed Sumter 2-0 after one inning, but tied the game at 2-all in the second inning.
Sumter would reclaim a 3-2 lead in the third inning, but was held scoreless the remainder of the game while Brewton’s two runs in the bottom of the sixth propelled them to the win. The win moved Brewton to 5-0 overall at the tournament.
Jaxson Flores went the distance on the mound for Brewton and earned the win. Flores went six innings and allowed five hits, three runs, one earned, walked none, struck out 13 and hit one batter.
Flores went 1-for-3 at the plate and had one RBI. Kyle Blevins went 1-for-4 with a double and had three RBIs while Kannan Carter went 1-for-2.
With the win, Brewton moved into the state tournament’s Final Four semifinal game against Westside Monday night.
Brewton trailed Westside 2-0 in the top of the third inning when weather conditions forced a rain delay. The game was scheduled to resume Tuesday morning at 10 a.m.
With a win against Westside, Brewton would play for the championship later in the day.
