Police now busy chasing down leads in an early morning armed robbery at the Brewton Huddle House.
Lt. Brock Holt of the Brewton Police Department said masked man armed with the pistol made his way into the local restaurant just before 2 a.m. Thursday.
“It was about 1:45 a.m. when we received a call from the Huddle House,” Holt said. “The male entered through the back door of the restaurant armed with a firearm and a crow bar. The video shows he made contact with one of the two employees inside the restaurant, walking him to the back of the restaurant.
“When the other employee noticed the gunman, he attempted to run but stopped,” Holt said. “The video shows the gun is trained on the employees the whole time and one can see (the gunman) tell them that he wants to know where the safe is.”
Holt said that’s when one employee begins to empty the cash register and the robber uses the crow bar to open the safe.
“It was an in-and-out job, three minutes from start to finish,” he said of the incident.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the Brewton Police Department at 251.867.3212.
A K-9 tracking team was brought in for the search; however, it is believed the gunman was picked in a vehicle from behind the restaurant.
Less than $600 was taken during the course of the robbery, Holt said.
