School orientations, open houses set

It’s time to head back to class, and area schools have announced orientation sessions.
On Friday, W.S. Neal elementary and middle schools will hold open house sessions from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. All parents and students are invited to attend and may bring school supplies. Those at the middle school level can purchase a locker. Parents may call the school at 867-5035 with any questions.
The high school will also host open house on Friday from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. Students can pick up schedules in the lunchroom and there will be a ninth grade and new student orientation in the auditorium at 2 p.m.
Brewton Elementary School will hold its session on Mon., Aug. 18. Parents are asked to bring students at the designated time for an informational session. Students will meet teachers and then be dismissed until the normal start time on Tuesday. The schedule is as follows:
• kindergarten: 8 a.m.
• first grade: 9 a.m.
• second grade: 10 a.m.
• third grade: 11 a.m.
• fourth grade: 1 p.m.
Brewton Middle School will hold orientation on Sun., 17, at 2 p.m. for new students and incoming fifth grade students.
On Monday, students are encouraged to arrive at school no later than 7:45 a.m. Homeroom assignments will be posted in grade level halls. Students will attend class all day.
For any changes to bus assignments, contact the superintendent’s office at 867-8400; however, stops will be similar to those ran last year.
T.R. Miller High School will hold freshmen orientation on Friday at 12:45 p.m. Schedules for all others students will be available for pickup from 9 a.m. until noon.
Pollard-McCall Jr. High School will start the school year off by having an open house for parents and students on Friday from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. Students may bring supplies to be put in the classrooms. Lockers may also be issued at this time for students in grades fourth through eighth.
The first day of school for students is Monday, Aug. 18.
