It will be a battle of the Tigers Friday night in Brewton when the T.R. Miller Tigers play their first home game of the 2014 season against the Tallassee Tigers.
T.R. Miller took down Andalusia Friday night to start the season 1-0.
“I think anytime you can go to Andalusia and get a win, it is a good thing,” T.R. Miller Tiger head coach Jamie Riggs said. “It is pretty difficult to do. For the first time, it was like most first games because we made some errors and there are certainly some things we are going to have to work on. But overall you have to pleased to go over there and win.”
As for Tallassee, Riggs said they are an impressive team to watch.
“Tallassee, I think having watched them on film from last year and their first game, they are certainly one of the tougher teams on our schedule certainly from just being physically tough,” he said. “They run the ball. They will throw it a little bit, but they primarily run the ball. They have a great tailback in No. 18 Brandon Baynes. He is outstanding. I have been very impressed with their offensive linemen. They do a very good job of running the ball. Defensively, I have just been impressed with their toughness. That is something we are going to have to respond to during the game.”
Tallassee enters the game with a 1-0 record after downing Notasulga 49-0 Friday night.
T.R. Miller last played Tallassee in 1998 and won 37-8 in the second round playoff game. T.R. Miller owns a 3-0 record overall against Tallassee and has outscored them 93-28.
Game time is set for 7 p.m. at Brewton Municipal Stadium.
