In a Tuesday tri-match at Brewton Middle School, the T.R. Miller Lady Tigers varsity team swept to improve to 3-0 this season.
The Lady Tigers defeated both the Hillcrest Jaguars and the Excel Panthers by scores of 2-0.
Against Hillcrest, T.R. Miller won set one 25-6 and set two 25-9. Against Excel, T.R. Miller won set one 25-22 and set two 25-21.
“I am proud of our effort in both matches,” T.R. Miller Lady Tiger head coach Greg White said. “Hillcrest is just young, but they are very athletic and they will improve as the season goes along. Excel has a very solid team and they don’t make many mistakes. We had to work hard for every point. I thought we had a slight advantage on the net and that was probably the difference in the game. We have a lot to improve on as a team, but I really love the effort that the girls are playing with right now.”
In the games against Hillcrest, Grace Ruzic led the Lady Tigers in set one with 10 service points and Myra Reiss had five. Mykayla Harrison finished with four kills and one block.
In set two, Lizzy Pollitte had four service points while Ruzic, Steely Ruzic, Reiss, and Allie Nelson all had three service points each. Amelia Peach had three service points and four kills.
In the match against Excel, Taylor Austin led in set one with six service points and two kills. Grace Ruzic finished with three service points and four assists while Caitlyn Smith had three service points and three assists.
In set two, Austin led with seven service points and two kills while Peach had two service points and three kills. Smith added two service points and four assists in the win.
