BMS and TRM varsity volleyball win over Andalusia while JV takes a loss

The Brewton Middle School Lady Tiger and the T.R. Miller varsity Lady Tiger volleyball teams both earned home wins Monday night against Andalusia, but the JV Lady Tigers took a loss.
BMS ended their season with a 10-1 record as they took down Andalusia 2-0. BMS won set one 25-10 and set two 25-13. No individual stats were known as of press time from the win.
Head coach Kim Owens said the BMS team is an “amazing” team and the team behind them has big shoes to fill.
“Not only are they talented, but also they have been so much fun to coach,” Owens said. “The 8th grades have been a part of a two-year record of 22-1 with two tournament championships.”
In JV action Monday night against Andalusia, the Lady Tigers suffered their first non-tournament loss of the season to fall to 11-3 overall.
The JV team lost 2-1 to Andalusia as they lost set one 25-6, won set two 25-20, but lost the third set tie-breaker by a score of 15-6. No individual stats were known as of press time.
In varsity action, T.R. Miller won 3-1 to improve to 14-3 overall.
T.R. Miller lost set one 25-22, but won three straight to take the match.
The Lady Tigers won set two 25-14, set three 25-13, and set four 25-10.
“Started off like we finished Saturday (at the Straughn) tournament and that was not very good,” TRM head coach Greg White said. “As the night progressed we made some real good adjustments and played a lot better in the last 3 games. We hit the ball real well and had several good service rallies. We need to keep working to improve everyday and not get satisfied where we are as individuals and as a team.”
In set one’s loss, Brittany Warren and Taylor Austin had three service points each while Amelia Peach had five kills. In set two, Warren had 12 service points with 11 coming in a row. Peach added four service points and five kills.
In set three, Caitlyn Smith had 10 straight service points with two being aces. Smith had five assists in the win while Lizzy Pollitte had six straight service points to end the game. Mykayla Harrison had five kills and four blocks.
In set four, Warren had nine service points and four kills while Smith had three service points along with Taylor Austin. Grace Ruzic finished with seven assists and Peach had six kills and two blocks.
