Faith: FBC and FUMC to start special services to start Sunday

Two churches in the Brewton area will begin new means of outreach this coming Sunday, Oct. 5.
Brewton’s First Baptist Church will start a seven-week Family Matters outreach while Brewton’s First United Methodist Church will start an outreach at The Hourglass.
FBC:
Brewton’s First Baptist Church, located at 324 Belleville Avenue in Brewton, will begin a seven-week family emphasis.
Starting Sunday, guest speaker Dr. Rick Lane will kick things off.
On Sunday, Oct. 12, guest speaker John Croyle will speak.
Dr. Dale Huff will speak on Sunday, Oct. 19 while Jay Wolf will be the speaker on Sunday, Oct. 26.
All services are set for 9 a.m., except for Wolf’s service, which will begin at 6 p.m.
The Sunday, Nov. 2 service will feature Jeff and Debby McElroy speaking on “parenting with a purpose” while the Sunday, Nov. 9 service will feature Dr. Tommy Smith.
On Sunday, Nov. 16, at 6 p.m., “Paid in Full” will be in concert.
The church will also have a family renewal service on Sunday, Nov. 23 at 9 a.m.
Sunday School will begin at 10:15 a.m. that Sunday with dinner on the grounds at 11:30 a.m.
On Sundays (Oct. 5-26), the 10:15 a.m. Sunday school class will meet in Bell Chapel and “Real World Parents” will be a four-week seminar led by Randy Winton.
The class if for parents with children of all ages.
The Glad Hearts Sunday School Class will meet at 5 p.m. on those Sundays and the focus will be “Staying in Love” which is a RightNow Media video series developed by Andy Stanley and will be facilitated by Chase Clower for married couples.
The annual Wild Game Supper will be held Saturday, Feb. 7, with guest speaker Tommy Bowden.
The meal will be at 5 p.m. with the service set for 6 p.m.

FUMC:
Brewton’s First United Methodist Church will begin their new service, “Crossover,” on Sunday, Oct. 5.
The services will be held at The Hourglass at 6:40 p.m.
The services will feature good friends, good, food, and good music.
The message series will be “Elvis is in the building.”
The Hourglass is located at 220 Saint Joseph Street in Brewton.

Oct. 1
A spiritual gospel singing will be held at the Castleberry Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Saturday, Sept. 27 at 7 p.m. Special guest will be Sensational Tones of Joy and One Accord, from Camden. Everyone is invited to have a blessed time in the Lord. Annual Homecoming services will be held Sun., Sept. 28, at 2:30 p.m. at Castleberry Grove Missionary Baptist Church featuring a special guest speaker. Revival services will be held Mon., Sept., 29 through Wed., Oct. 1, at 7:30 nightly. The evangelist for the week will be Rev. Trent Pressley of the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Natez. Everyone is invited to attend.
Oct. 5
first united methodist church in Brewton, will hold a charity motorcycle ride with proceeds going towards the purchase of wheelchairs for the poor in Costa Rica. The event will begin at 1 p.m. and the cost is $25 per pike and $10 per passenger. The event will be held at The Hour Glass, located at 220 Saint Joseph Avenue in Brewton. There will be a bike show, a poker run, and biker games after the ride with cash prizes. Food and refreshments will be provided at the end of the ride. All motorcycles are welcomed. Oct. 5-8
First Saint Siloam Missionary Baptist Church will have a special service at 2:30 p.m. with guest speaker Pastor Trent Presley from Beatrice. The Annual revival services will be held Oct. 6-8 at 7 p.m. each night with the guest speaker being Pastor Willie J. Blue of Second Saint Siloam Missionary Baptist Church.
Oct. 11
PEACE AND GOODWILL MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH COMMUNITY OF BREWTON PRAISES OF GOD, located at 1927 Ridge Road, will have Bible Bowl 2013 on Saturday, Oct. 11 at 9 a.m. The event will be held at the John L. Fisher Community Center (located at the former BMS on Liles Blvd.). Registration deadline is Saturday, Aug. 30. Bethesda MBC (Nichburg) will host it’s second annual Missions and Matrons Tea at 3 p.m. Guest Speaker – Sis. Toni Johnson, of Bethel MBC, Beatrice, AL.
HANBERRY HOLINESS CHURCH will have a singing at 6 p.m. The Chastains will be the featured group. All singers are welcome to come. There will be refreshments served after the singing.
Oct. 19
CEDAR HILL BAPTIST CHURCH, will have homecoming beginning at 10 a.m. with Glory Bound gospel band in concert. Worship will begin at 11 a.m. with pastor Michael Watts bringing the message. Dinner and fellowship will follow.
Oct. 25
First Saint Siloam MBC will have their second annual Fall Gospel Explosion at First Saint Siloam at 5 p.m. The event will feature Michael Dean & The Deliverers from Pensacola. Groups, soloist, and praise teams are invited to come.
Nov. 1
DIVINE TEMPLE CHURCH, located at 305 Adams Street in East Brewton, will have Michael Combs in concert at 6 p.m. Admission is free, but a love offering will be taken up.
