TRM XC hosts T.R. Miller Challenge Saturday at BMS

Hundred of runners took part in T.R. Miller cross country’s T.R. Miller Challenge Saturday at Brewton Middle School.
Teams like Saint Paul’s, Milton, Navarre, West Florida Tech, Satsuma, Pace, Pensacola Catholic, Pensacola Christian Academy, Baldwin County, T.R. Miller, Fairhope, Mary G. Montgomery, Gulf Shores, Spanish Fort, Alabama Christian, Straughn, Flomaton, Opp, Tate, Daphne and others ran in the race.
T.R. Miller head cross country coach Rob Atkinson said he thought the meet went well Saturday, he thanked all those who helped put the meet on.
“The meet was great and I was pleased with how everything turned out,” Atkinson said. “It could not happen without all the support of all of our parents. The parents were just outstanding today. Jerry Morris and all the people involved, I really appreciate the help of everyone. Several people have commented today of how the meet went and all the help from the parents that we have here. I just really appreciate all the help that we had today.”
As for the way his runners ran in the race, Atkinson said he thought they did well.
“I thought our runners ran fairly well today,” Atkinson said. “I was really pleased with Allie Nelson. Sarah Byrd was outstanding today as well. I did think Travis Carlson ran really well today for the boys.”
T.R. Miller’s boys placed 13th out of 17 teams.
In the varsity boy’s race the top finishers for T.R. Miller were:
• Travis Carlson, 18:52.68
• Micah Flores, 19:29.04
• Noah Morris, 20:53.21
• Nash Diercks, 21:18.76
• Tanner McDaniel, 21:34.17
• Tucker McDaniel, 21:50.31
In the varsity girl’s race, T.R. Miller placed eighth out of 12 teams.
In the varsity girl’s race the top finishers for T.R. Miller were:
• Allie Nelson, 19:23.40
• Tarah Townsend, 23:36.15
• Sarah Byrd, 23:55.13
• Kelsi Lum, 24:40.13
• Madison Lum, 24:40.13
• Carmen Knowles, 24:51.18
Nelson’s time earned her national silver standard.
In the JV girl’s race the top finishers for T.R. Miller were:
• Ora Nelson, 16:14.74
• Sarah Grace Gerety, 16:26.70
• Abigail Cave, 16:56.66
• Tess Thomas, 17:11.56
In the JV boy’s race the top finishers for T.R. Miller were:
• Noah Winton, 13:44.13
• Terry Samuel, 14:37.31
• Rider Jernigan, 14:38.71
• Gavin McNeil, 15:07.63
