From staff reports

In their final home and regular season game Thursday against Northview, the W.S. Neal Lady Eagle varsity volleyball team earned a 3-1 win over Northview to move to 15-10 overall this season.
WSN won set one 25-15, but lost set two 25-23. In set three, WSN won 25-15 and claimed a 25-22 win in the fourth set to claim the match.
Tykeria Nolan had 16 service winners, five aces, and two kills while Jodi Busby had 15 winners, two aces, nine kills, and one block.
Dinah Samuel had seven service winners, three aces, and seven kills while Karissa Johnson had three service winners, one ace, seven kills, and one block.
Madison Winchester had four service winners in the win.
WSN head coach Jason Blaney said that his two seniors, Tykeria Nolan and Jodi Busby, both stepped up big on senior night Thursday.
“We celebrated senior night tonight and our seniors stepped up big time, like they have time and time again this season,” he said. “We did let up a little bit during that second set and fourth set, but fought back during the fourth set to take the match. The whole team played well on this night and as a team we playing very well right now.”
Blaney said his team has had a decent season and a couple of their loses could’ve easily have gone the other way, but now they start off 0-0 going into Tuesday’s area tournament were they will take on Satsuma.
“The winner of that match automatically advances to regionals and will take on UMS-Wright for the area championship,” Blaney said. “Satsuma beat us the second week in the season and it will be one heck of a fight. I know that both teams have improved since that day and look forward to a great match Tuesday.”
