TRM cross country competes at sectionals

Running in the class 3A section 1 meet Thursday at Gateway Park in Montgomery, T.R. Miller’s girls cross country team took third place out of five teams while the boys were fourth out of six teams.
The third place finish for the girls earned them a spot in the state meet next week in Moulton while the boy’s team will send four individual runners to the meet.
In the meet Thursday, the girls scored 74 point to finish behind Montgomery Academy’s 36 and Bayside Academy’s 55. Cottage Hill scored 95 points and Prattville Christian Academy finished fifth with 112 points.
In the boys race, Montgomery Academy took first place with 22 points followed by Cottage Hill’s 45, Bayside’s 86, TRM’s 103, Prattville’s 137 and Opp’s 181.
For the TRM girls, Allie Nelson led the way with a national silver standard time of 18:57 to finish first place overall for TRM and overall in the race.

For the TRM boys, Travis Carlson led the way with a 10th place overall finish with a time of 18:13.49.

• Tucker McDaniel, 20:38.78
• Noah Winton, 21:01.08

Carlson, Flores, Morris, and Harris all qualified to run at the state meet as individuals.
