The holiday season is almost here, and the Brewton Chamber of Commerce is continuing a tradition with its Brewton/East Brewton communitywide holiday kickoff event for the holiday shopping season.
Set for Thurs., Nov. 20, from 4-7 p.m., chamber director Judy Crane said, “It’s our hope and plan that Brewton and East Brewton residents will shop locally before making purchases out of town.”
Not only are local residents encouraged to shop at home, local businesses are also being encouraged to make the most of the event by hosting promotions for the day, Crane said.
“Again, our hopes are to continue a chamber tradition where on Thursday before Thanksgiving our area has an opportunity to capture holiday dollars in a fun and entertaining way,” she said. “Use your imagination, let us know your plans and we can include your business in any advertising we do for this event.”
This year there will be an art show on the boardwalk in front of The L House, she said.
Examples of holiday business promotions include holiday sales with free drawing for a gift with later evening shopping hours; and open house with or without refreshments and entertainment. Local business owners are asked to contact the chamber for participation by calling Crane at 251.867.3224.
