BMS basketball sweeps Jay

Brewton Middle School’s girls and boys basketball teams both captured road wins at Jay Tuesday. The Lady Tigers moved to 5-0 this season as they defeated the Lady Royals 43-16.
In boy’s action, BMS ended their three-game losing streak with a 48-35 win to move to 2-3 overall this season.
In girl’s action, Brewton led Jay 12-6 after one quarter and 20-10 at the half after doubling up Jay 8-4 in the second quarter.
In the third quarter, Brewton outscored Jay 17-5 to build a 37-15 lead. In the fourth, the Lady Tigers held Jay to one point while scoring six of their own to get the win.
Ja’Nazsia Nettles led the Lady Tigers with 19 points and was joined in double figures by Aleria Smith’s 17.
Ravion Ewing added three points while Averie Johnson and Jordan McCreary both chipped in two points each in the win.
For the BMS boys, Brewton led Jay 15-9 after one quarter and 22-14 at the half after edging out Jay 7-5 in the quarter.
In the third quarter, Brewton outscored Jay 17-12 to take a 39-26 lead. In the fourth, both teams scored nine points each as Brewton earned the win by 13 points.
Jaylin Dees led with 22 points in the win and Jamal Duggans added 11 points. Cody Hall chipped in nine points while Micah Flores, Jalen Walker and Toby Jenkins each had two points each.
