The Brewton Arts Council will present John Boutwell in concert on Tues., Dec. 9, at 7 p.m. at the Jefferson Davis Community College auditorium.
Boutwell, a Flomaton native, will return to his home county for an intimate evening performance featuring his piano and vocal styling on a selection from multiple genres.
“We are proud to welcome this native son back to Escambia County to give the community yet another opportunity to hear this artist do what he loves best,” said BAC president Clay Lisenby.
Boutwell’s musical abilities were evident at an early age as he learned to sing at his mother and grandmother’s knees while they played guitar.
At 16, his musical ability was discovered by his high school teachers who promptly drafted him to accompany the annual spring musical which served to expand his repertoire and bring about a more mature style.
While earning his college education, Boutwell’s music continued to expand into additional genres including country (both traditional and new), soft rock, pop, and easy listening among others, Lisenby said.
“In the building years of the new business, performance took a back seat as he sought to establish and expand the company; however, performing being his first love and passion, the embers have once again been fanned to give rise to a surge in demand for concerts and appearances,” Lisenby said. “We can’t wait to welcome him home.”
Tickets are available at the door for $15.
