Escambia County Tourney to play next week at TRM

The 2014 version of the Escambia County Tournament has been scheduled for a tip off on Fri., Dec. 11, at T.R. Miller gymnasium in Brewton.
Games will be played on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, with game times set to begin at 3 p.m. each day. Games will also begin at 4:30, 6 and 7:30 p.m.
The tournament will feature all four public high school teams in Escambia County—W.S. Neal, T.R. Miller, Flomaton and Escambia County of Atmore.
Last season, Atmore took the girls championship and the Escambia County Blue Devils took the boys championship in the tournament for the sixth straight year. Last year’s tournament was played in Flomaton.
Beginning Thursday, the Lady Eagles of W.S. Neal will start the tournament off as they begin play at 3 p.m. against the Lady Blue Devils of Escambia County.
At 4:30 p.m., W.S. Neal’s boys will play Escambia County. Escambia County will be the home team in the games.
Following the W.S. Neal and Escambia County boys game, T.R. Miller and Flomaton will square off against each other with the girls beginning at 6 p.m. and the boys playing the final game of the night at 7:30 p.m. TRM will be the home team in their games with Flomaton.
On Friday, Flomaton and Escambia County will start things off with the girls playing the 3 p.m. game and the boys hitting the floor at 4:30 p.m. Flomaton’s teams will be the home teams against the Blue Devils.
T.R. Miller and W.S. Neal will play the night games with the girls playing at 6 p.m. followed by the boys at 7:30 p.m. T.R. Miller will be the home team against the Blue Eagles.
The tournament will resume on Sat., Dec. 13, with Flomaton and W.S. Neal’s girls playing first at 3 p.m. and the boys team squaring off at 4:30 p.m. W.S. Neal will be the home team.
Escambia County and T.R. Miller will end the tournament with the girls playing at 6 p.m. and the boys playing at 7:30 p.m. T.R. Miller will be the home team against the Blue Devils.
In case of a tie, the first tiebreaker will be head to head followed by points allowed, points scored and then a coin flip.
A first place trophy will be given to the first place girls and boys teams.
Awards will be given to those players who make the all-tournament team. Each member of the team will be selected by his or her coach.
The first place team in the boys and girls bracket will have two members on the all-county team plus the Most Valuable Player.
The second place team will have two members while the third and fourth place team will have one each.
Awards will be handed out at the awards ceremony after the last game of the tournament on Saturday.
