Police remain on the lookout for two men who allegedly assaulted an Escambia County Schools bus driver and burglarized his home.
Chief Deputy Mike Lambert with the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office said the burglary occurred on Robinsonville Road Thursday night at approximately 10:30 p.m.
Lambert identified the victim as Melvin Byrd and said, “(Byrd) advised they had arrived home to find an unknown vehicle – a black Nissan four-door car – at the residence.
“He attempted to call 911 but was pulled from the vehicle and struck in the face by an object (possibly taken) from the residence,” he said.
The burglars made away with a laptop and television set, Lambert said.
Lambert said Byrd described the two suspects as black males approximately six feet tall weighing 250 pounds.
He said the suspects fled the scene and a later investigation determined that the home had been burglarized.
