Dr. William O. Blow has been appointed as interim president of Jefferson Davis Community College.
The announcement came Tuesday by Alabama Community College System Chancellor Mark Heinrich that the Prattville resident will serve as the college’s interim president effective Jan. 1, 2015.
“Dr. Blow is a lifelong educator and he is passionate about education in Alabama,” Dr. Heinrich said. “Dr. Blow has yet again so graciously agreed to come out of retirement to lead Jeff Davis. We are very appreciative of his support of our system and our colleges.”
Dr. Blow previously served as interim president of Alabama Southern Community College and Gadsden State Community College.
He formerly served as dean of instruction at Patrick Henry Junior College before it became Alabama Southern. He also served in leadership positions at the Alabama Commission on Higher Education, including two appointments as interim executive director.
Camille Cochrane served as interim president since October 2013 after then-president Dr. Dan Bain was escorted off college grounds and placed on administrative leave and later terminated. Brewton Standard archives show director of human resources Veronica McKinney was also apparently relieved of her duties at JDCC. Since then, officials have not said why the action was taken against Bain and McKinney.
Cochrane announced she was leaving in August.
When asked about hiring a permanent JDCC president, ACCS stated the process will continue; however, that schedule has not been established at this time.
