FPD makes Wednesday arrest
The Flomaton Police Department made an arrest Wednesday on Nicholas Dewayne Smith (22), of Jordan Road in Flomaton.
Smith was charged with domestic violence strangulation, domestic violence interference with emergency call, attempt to elude law enforcement, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana in the second degree. Smith is currently in the Escambia County Jail in Alabama.
Flomaton Police Chief Bryan Davis said that at approximately 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, the Flomaton Police Department received a 911 call from the victim stating that the suspect, Nicholas Dewayne Smith, had been choking her. Upon officers arriving on scene, Smith had fled from the residence. Officers with Escambia County Sheriff’s Department in Alabama and Florida responded to assist in the hunt for Smith.
Century and Atmore Correctional K-9 team arrived and began to track Smith with the K-9. Smith was later tracked down and taken into custody.
