WSN basketball sweeps Satsuma Tuesday

All three W.S. Neal basketball teams picked up road wins at Satsuma Tuesday night to improve their records.
The B-team Eagles won 54-47 to move to 7-9 overall this season, while the varsity Lady Eagles and varsity Eagles claimed area wins in their final area games of the season.
The Lady Eagles won over Satsuma (no score or stats known as of press time) to move to 7-14 overall and finished 2-2 in area play. The Lady Eagles clinched the No. 2 seed in the area behind UMS-Wright.
In varsity action, WSN defeated the Gators of Satsuma 51-37. The win was WSN’s sixth straight win as they moved to 13-8 overall and finished with a perfect 4-0 record in area play. The Eagles of East Brewton will host the area tournament next week.
WSN B-team 54, Satsuma 47
Kenny Walker poured in 16 points for WSN and Marvin Maddox added 10 points to lead the B-team Eagles to a 54-47 win over Satsuma.
WSN led Satsuma 18-15 after one quarter and 29-24 at the half. In the third quarter, WSN outscored Satsuma 13-12 to take a 42-36 lead into the fourth quarter. In the fourth, WSN edged out Satsuma 12-11 to claim the seven-point win.
Along with Walker and Maddox, Ricky Samuel added seven points and Josh McMillan had six. Matthew Brown and De’Ron Smith both had five points each while Bryce Booker had two points along with Jeremiya Mitchell. Peyton Salter finished with one point in the win.
WSN varsity 51, Satsuma 37
WSN’s varsity capped off a perfect 4-0 run in area play this season and moved their winning streak to six straight wins Tuesday as they downed Satsuma 51-37.
WSN led Satsuma 12-4 after one quarter, and after a 14-11 run in the second quarter, claimed a 26-15 lead at the half.
In the third quarter, WSN used a 19-8 run to increase their lead to 45-23. In the fourth, Satsuma rallied with a 14-6 run, but WSN took the win by 14 points.
The Eagles had four players score in double figures as DJ Hodges and Troy Lewis both led with 12 points each. TyShawn Davis added 11 points and Darius Tolbert had 10. Tolbert finished with a double-double as he led with 10 rebounds.
Treylon Watson added six points for WSN in the win.
Hodges and Davis led with three assists each while Hodges and Davis both had five steals to lead in the win.
