TRM baseball defeats Atmore to start season and county tourney

T.R. Miller’s baseball team got their 2015 season started on the right path Tuesday afternoon in Atmore as they downed the Escambia County Blue Devils 12-1 in five innings in the first game of the Escambia County Tournament.
The win moved the Tigers to 1-0 this season and 1-0 in tourney play.
TRM led ECHS 4-0 after one inning and 7-0 after two innings. ECHS plated their lone run in the top of the third inning, but the Tigers responded with five of their own to take a 12-1 lead. Neither team scored the remainder of the game as TRM took the 10-run mercy rule win in five innings.
Jones Manning led the Tigers at the plate with a 3-for-4 day. Manning had a double and one RBI.
Drew Williamson, Hunter Brittain, Chris Jones and Tim McDonald all had one hit each in the win. Brittain, Jones, and JoJo Booker all had two RBIs each while McDonald and Jason Konsler had one RBI each.
Brittain, Williamson and Russell Smith all pitched in the win for the Tigers with Brittain being the pitcher of record.
The trio went five innings and allowed four hits, one earned run, walked one and struck out 12 while hitting one batter.
