Lawson rallies to defeat JDCC baseball Tuesday

Hosting Lawson State Tuesday in Brewton, the Jefferson Davis Community College Warhawk baseball team blew a 6-2 lead and an 8-7 lead to suffer a 12-8 defeat to the Cougars.
JDCC, now 5-9 overall, trailed Lawson 2-0 after the top of the fourth inning before rallying with five runs in the bottom of the inning to take a 5-2 lead. After taking a 6-2 lead after five inning, Lawson patted five runs in the sixth inning to grab a 7-6 lead over the Warhawks.
JDCC would add one run in the sixth and one in the seventh to take an 8-7 lead, but saw Lawson score five unanswered runs over the next two innings to claim the four-run win. Lawson used a three-run rally in the eighth inning and added two more in the ninth to get the win.
JDCC used six pitchers in the loss as Dalton Edwards was the pitcher of record for the Warhawks.
Riley Hodge, Tyler Joyner, Matt Gillis, Alec Talley, Edwards and Ryan Gauci all pitched in the loss and combined to go nine innings and allowed 17 hits, 12 runs, 11 earned, walked seven and struck out 10 in the loss.
At the plate for the Warhawks, Austin Armstrong had one RBI while John-Mark Cosby was 2-for-5 with two RBIs.
Brandon Goins went 3-for-3 while Brandon Davis was 1-for-6 with two RBIs and a double.
Craig Headley and Dake Rivers both had one hit while Gregory Ciangiatto had two hits. Headley and Rivers had one RBI each along with Talley. Rivers and Ciangiatto both had a double each in the loss for JDCC.
