UPDATE: Ambert Alert cancelled for Union Springs girl
An Amber Alert has been cancelled for a Union Springs child taken from her elementary school early Thursday morning.
Authorities are confirming that 5-year-old Aaliyah Linton has been found in South Carolina and is safe. The child was abducted Thursday morning from her school in Bullock County, Alabama. The incident happened around 8:40 a.m. and prompted an Amber Alert.
Investigators say Linton’s aunt and grandmother took the child from Union Springs Elementary School before fleeing the state.
Authorities issued an Amber Alert round 11 a.m. seeking two females who were said to be driving a maroon van with North Carolina license plates.
The aunt and grandmother, who have not been identified by name, will face kidnapping charges. The girl’s father, Alton Linton, was questioned by the Union Springs Police Department in an effort to find the girl. It’s not yet clear if he will face any charges.
