A Brewton man is wanted on two attempted murder charges after he allegedly repeatedly rammed a car occupied by his ex-wife and her friend.
Police are searching for Walter Lee Hodges, 43, following the Sunday incident, Chief Deputy Mike Lambert said.
Lambert said the Evergreen resident and her friend from Montgomery were traveling north on Ala. Hwy. 31 when they met Hodges traveling southbound.
“The ex-wife said he had made previous threats of doing her bodily harm,” Lambert said. “Victim and witness statements say that when Hodges met them (on the road(, he turned around and gave chase.
“As they approached Kirkland Road that was when he rammed their car and ran them off the road,” he said. “He then rammed the car twice more on the driver’s side and then fled the scene.”
Lambert said that through the statements, investigators determined that Hodges’ acted deliberately when he struck the car.
The two females suffered non-life threatening injuries, and Hodges’ ex-wife was transported to D.W. McMillian Hospital for treatment.
Hodges, who is described as a 5-foot-5-inches tall black male with brown eyes, is facing two counts of attempted murder – one of which is domestic violence related – and two counts of criminal mischief.
“The best thing for Mr. Hodges is for him to surrender to law enforcement,” Lambert said. “But, if anyone has any information as to his whereabouts, they should contact one’s nearest law enforcement agency.”
