JDCC baseball drops four games to CVCC

The Chattahoochee Valley Community College Pirates’ baseball team showed why they were last year’s state champions and advanced to the JUCO World Series as they recently swept the Jefferson Davis Community College baseball team 4-0.
At CVCC Thursday, JDCC lost 6-0 and 8-0. In Brewton Saturday, JDCC lost 14-1 in six innings and 13-7 in game two. The four losses dropped JDCC to 15-19 overall and to 10-10 in conference play while CVCC improved to 31-9 overall and to 17-3 in conference play.
In the two games at CVCC Thursday, JDCC was held to no runs, five hits and made three errors while CVCC tallied 14 runs on 26 hits and made no errors.
No stats or game information from Saturday’s games were known as of press time.
JDCC traveled to Mobile Monday to play Spring Hill College in a doubleheader. The Warhawks will be back in conference play Thursday at home as they will host Wallace-Dothan at noon in a 9-and 7-inning doubleheader.

Game one: CVCC 6, JDCC 0
CVCC scored four runs in the first inning and held JDCC scoreless to claim a 6-0 win in game one.
John-Marc Cosby had the only two hits for JDCC.
On the mound, Nick Helton, Matt Gillis, Ryan Gauci, and Chase Laney all pitched.
The quartet combined to go eight innings and allowed 13 hits, six earned runs, walked five, struck out four and hit two batters.

Game two: CVCC 8, JDCC 0
In game two, CVCC blanked JDCC again as they came away with an 8-0 win to sweep the Warhawks.
Cosby led JDCC at the plate again as he had a double in the loss. Brandon Davis and Gregory Ciangiotto both had one hit each.
On the mound, Justin Abdo, Garrett Davis and Alec Talley all pitched in the loss. The trio combined to go six innings and allowed 13 hits, eight runs, three earned, walked two, struck out one and hit one batter in the loss.
