LBW sweeps JDCC baseball and hands JDCC eighth straight loss

The Jefferson Davis Community College Warhawks baseball team’s losing streak grew to eight straight losses Monday at home as LBW finished off a sweep of the Warhawks.
JDCC lost game one 6-2 and game two 5-1. The two losses dropped JDCC’s overall record to 17-27 and to 10-18 in conference play.
In game one, Tyler Joyner took the loss on the mound for the Warhawks as he went 2 1/3 innings and allowed five hits, four runs, all earned, walked three and struck out one.
Garrett Davis and Nick Helton also pitched in the loss. Overall the trio of pitchers combined to go nine innings and allowed 11 hits, six runs, five earned, walked five, struck out nine and hit one batter.
At the plate, Heath Young led the Warhawks with three hits. Two of Young’s hits were doubles. Craig Headley added two hits with one being a double. Justin Abdo, Brandon Davis, Riley Stokes and Dake Rivers all had one hit each. Stokes added a double as well while Davis and Rivers had one RBI each.
In game two, JDCC led 1-0 after three innings, but saw LBW plate two in the sixth and three in the seventh to get the four-run win.
JDCC was held to three hits in the loss. Abdo, Caden Lodge and Goins all had one hit each. Abdo had a double.
On the mound, Matt Gillis, Nick Boswell, Ryan Gauci, and Taylor Baynes pitched with Boswell taking the loss.
The four combined to go seven innings and allowed eight hits, five runs, four earned, walked six and struck out three.
