Holman on lock-down after stabbing death
Holman Correctional Facility in Atmore is on lock-down after an inmate was stabbed to death Wednesday morning.
Bob Horton, Alabama Department of Corrections spokesman, said the homicide occurred at approximately 6 a.m. when 67-year-old Lawrence Utley was fatally stabbed.
Robert Aaron Williams, 58, was detained as a suspect in the stabbing. Williams is serving a life sentence for a 2014 murder conviction in Mobile County.
Utley had served 30 years of a life sentence for a 1985 sodomy conviction in Mobile County.
Horton said the correctional facility will remain on lock-down until ADOC’s Investigations and Intelligence Division completes the investigation.
