From staff reports

Playing in the sectional tournament Monday in Montgomery, the T.R. Miller golf team qualified for the sub-state round next week as they tied for second place.
Bayside Academy won the sectional match as they shot a score of 296. TRM and Montgomery Academy tied with a 354 while Opp shot a 387. Prattville Christian had to drop from team competition to individual players.
Troy Hart led TRM with an 83 while Tylan McDonald shot an 84. Hunter Harp and Yancey Jernigan both shot 93s while Will Smith shot a 94.
TRM head coach Marc Edge said each year his team has been trying to get a little better.
“We wanted to get a team qualified into sub-state,” Edge said. “We have had individuals make it in, but never a team. This is great for our team. We are going to just go play Monday and do the best that we can and see how everything falls out. Our goal is to be competitive. Bayside has a super team. Knowing that can we try to get into the second spot and take the next step qualifying a team for state. If we can’t get a team in, maybe we can get an individual or individuals in.”
