Horse put down
After complaints to the county humane society and on social media, a Brewton horse has been euthanized.
However, the horse’s condition wasn’t from neglect or malnourishment,
people close to the case told The Brewton Standard Monday.
Over the holiday weekend, the newspaper’s Facebook page was flooded with complaints about a horse located at a residence on County Road 40. Photos showed the blonde horse that appeared to be neglected and starving.
Reports of the animal’s condition were made with the Escambia County Humane Society and the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office animal control division. Both departments confirmed the animal was a “beloved family pet of advanced years” and every effort was made to rehabilitate the animal. The animal was euthanized Monday.
