The W.S. Neal Eagle football team will travel to the Sunshine State of Florida twice this season for two of its 11 games.
WSN will open its season at Milton the first game of the season in a Kickoff Classic game. In its fourth game of the season this year, WSN will travel to Tallahassee, Fla., to play the East Gadsden Jaguars.
WSN travelled to Jacksonville, Fla., last year to open the 2014 season in a Kickoff Classic against Bishop Snyder High School. Like the game against Bishop Snyder last year, the game with Milton this year will not count on WSN’s record.
“It was an open week for us,” WSN head football coach and athletic director Doug Hoehn said. “We only played nine regular season games last year. That is just the way the schedule fell with realignment.
“The region we were placed in, there is a different amount of teams in every region, so if you are in a region that does not have the eight or nine teams, you have to go out and find your games.
Hoehn said he wanted to play 10 games this year and both school happened to be open that same week and they scheduled them.
East Gadsden is in Havana, Fla. According to Google maps, the trip is 181 miles with a travelling time of two hours and 55 minutes.
The Jaguars went 0-9 last year.
