Tuesday evening the WSN JV and varsity team took losses to Pleasant Home.

WSN JV won the first set in a close game, 25-22. The second game both teams would play another close one, this time with Pleasant Home having the upperhand, 21-25. The final set would be another close call but WSN JV would fall short, 10-15.

WSN varsity came into Tuesday’s matchup with a record of 1-4.

WSN started off slow, losing the first two sets, 15-25 and 16-25. The third set proved more competitive but the Lady Blue Eagles would come up short, 22 -25.

WSN head volleyball coach Jason Blaney believes his team needs to start off faster but is proud the way his girls came out in the third set. “In the third set the girls played great,” Blaney said. “We have to work on coming out strong right from the beginning. We also have to do a better job receiving the serve. I think each set we did a good job improving.”

Leading WSN was Dinah Samuel with 4 service winners, 3 aces and 8 kills and Madison Winchester with 5 service winners, 1 ace and 15 assists.

WSN (1-5) will travel to UMS-Wright (4-1) Thurs., Sept. 10. Games start at 4:30 p.m.
