This month, Family Discount Pharmacy celebrates its one-year anniversary.

The store is founded by Brewton native Russell Sheldt, and when it comes to pharmaceuticals, he knows his trade.

Sheldt grew up with role models who laid the foundations for the work he does today, he said.

“My grandfather was a pharmacist,” he said. “He worked into his 90s. My dad was a pharmacist and he worked into his seventies.

“They always had successful practices,” he said. “I learned a lot from them about the job and on how to treat your customers.”

Sheldt says his store strives to make the customer top priority.

“We strive to offer fast, friendly service,” he said. “For people that don’t have insurance we work to make sure we have the best price in town. We try to beat our competitors on prices for prescriptions excluding control medications.”

As the store moves into its second year, Sheldt wants to continue providing good service and believes there is still room for growth.

“We’ve grown a lot in the past year,” Sheldt said. “In the future we just want to continue providing the fastest, friendliest service in town. For the people who don’t have insurance we want to do our best to save them money.”

This month the store is celebrating its customers. All $1 items are on sale for $0.88. Vitamins are half price.
