JDCC to celebrate birthday Saturday

Jefferson Davis Community College will celebrate its 50th year anniversary with a number of events Saturday.

An agenda of the day’s events follows:

• 10 a.m. until 11:30 a.m.: alumni reception in the telecommunications building for former and current students, instructors and staff;

• 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.: campus open house with displays and demonstrations shown in most buildings. The Escambia County Historical Museum will also be open for tours during this time. There will be displays of memorabilia, photographs and videos depicting the history of JDCC.

Lunch will also be served for $4 per plate;

• noon until 1 p.m.: talent show in the Neal Auditorium;

• 1 p.m.: presentation by Sen. Greg Albritton.

There will be a bouncy house and face painting for the kids, and Lisa McMillan will be serving lunch in the student center for $4 per plate. A number of 50th Anniversary items will also be for sale in the college bookstore.
