The downtown boardwalk in Brewton is set to welcome another business – the Purple Paisley.
Opening Saturday, Oct. 31, the event will feature an appearance by Miss Alabama Meg McGuffin.
Owned by Tina Hunt, the storefront will feature junior and women’s clothing, shoes and accessories.
Many may recognize the business name from its online presence, the Flomaton teacher said.
“We were ready to bring our merchandise to a store front, and the boardwalk was a perfect location for us,” Hunt said.
For months, crews have worked to transform the downtown building into a new retail space. When it came time to announce the grand opening, Hunt said she knew she wanted something that would get people talking.
“Miss Alabama Meg McGuffin came in fifth in the Miss America Pageant, and we love her platform,” Hunt said of the “Healthy is the New Skinny” topic McGuffin used in the pageant. “She promotes the improvement and building the self esteem and confidence of young girls and ladies. That is definitely a message that we at the Purple Paisley want to promote, which was the exact reason we chose to spotlight her at our opening.”
McGuffin will appear from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. All are invited to attend. Cameras are welcome.
“Bring your rising pageant stars and fashion divas to meet Miss Alabama,” Hunt said. “And of course, we’d love it if you shopped a little while you were there.”
