A Flomaton drug deal gone bad led to the arrest of a Century, Fla., man Thursday.

Chief Deputy Mike Lambert with the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office said 34-year-old Michael McCall is charged with possession and distribution of a controlled substance and attempting to elude law enforcement.

“Deputies observed Mr. McCall, who was inside a vehicle, as he attempted to make drug deal in the parking lot of the Flomaton Dollar General somewhere around 6 p.m.,” Lambert said. “When deputies approached the car, (McMall) fled on foot into a wooded area on Wilkerson Street – leaving his vehicle, ID and a plastic bag containing a clear, crystal substance that field-tested positive as crystal methamphetamine.”

Lambert said K-9 units from Fountain Prison and Century and Santa Rosa County, Fla., were called to assist in the search. While law enforcement didn’t locate McCall, they did find approximately $200 in cash in the woods.

K-9 units tracked McCall through the area for hours until, witnesses said, he was picked up by a vehicle.

McCall surrendered the next morning at the sheriff’s office without incident, Lambert said.

McCall was booked into the Escambia County Detention Center and released on a $50,000 bond.
