Neal starts new year on winning note

The W.S. Neal B-team, varsity girls and boys came away with wins Tuesday night.

 

WSN 26, Excel 25 (B-team)

The W.S. Neal B-team picked up a 26-25 win over Excel to improve to 5-2 for the season.

Neal carried an 11-10 lead going into half time. The Eagles would give themselves some breathing room in the third quarter, scoring 11 points and holding Excel to seven. Excel would make a last effort in the fourth to pull ahead but the Eagles were able to hold on for the one point win.

Leading WSN was Ricky Samuel with eight points and Tyrese Anderson with five points.

 

WSN 43, Excel 26 (girls)

For the girls, Neal jumped out early going on a 12-4 run in the first quarter. Excel bounced back in the second, holding WSN to only two points while scoring nine.

The second half would be all Neal who outscored Excel 29-13 for their fifth win of the season.

Leading Neal was KeKe Floyd with 23 points, six rebounds and six steals.

The Lady Eagles improve to 5-7 for the season.

 

WSN 68, Excel 60 (boys)

It was a tale of two halves for the Eagles, who struggled scoring in the first half. The Eagles found themselves down 26-24 going into the third after a 20-point second quarter by Excel.

In the second half Neal proved better on the offensive end, outscoring Excel 44-34.

Leading the Eagles was Tyshawn Davis with 18 points, eight rebounds and five assists; Dalton Shell with 16 points and four rebounds; and Darius Tolbert with 10 points, eight rebounds and six blocks.

The Eagles are 10-4 for the season.
