Neal boys earn first area win after defeating UMS Wright

On Tuesday, W.S. Neal squared of against area rival UMS Wright, with the girls’ varsity losing and boys’ varsity winning.

 

UMS 53, Neal 27

The UMS Lady Bulldogs built up a comfortable lead in the first half, outscoring Neal 32-12.

The Lady Eagles would do a better job on the defensive end in the second half, holding UMS to 21 points, while scoring 15.

Keke Floyd led the Lady Eagles with 23 points, six rebounds and four steals.

The Lady Eagles drop to 5-10 for the season.

 

UMS 56, Neal 64

The Eagles picked up their first victory over an area opponent this season behind a big night by Tyshawn Davis, who scored a game high 34 points.

Neal held a 41-37 lead going into the fourth quarter. Neal would outscore UMS 23-19 to close out the game.

Along with Davis’s 34 points he had five rebounds, three assists, three steals and three blocks. Other top performers for the Eagles was Dalton Shell with 10 points and three rebounds; and Treylon Watson with eight points and three rebounds.

WSN will play Hillcrest Thurs., Jan. 14 at home. Games start at 4:30 p.m. with the B-team, followed by the girl’s varsity at 6 p.m. with the boy’s varsity at 7:30 p.m.
