Jamie Riggs has rescinded his retirement letter and will continue to coach the T.R. Miller football team.
In a statement issued by Brewton City Schools Superintendent Dr. Kenneth Varner:
“Although there were some good candidates who applied, no one matches his reputation, character or success. Coach Riggs is a proven winner, both on and off the field. He has done a great job over the years of helping Brewton’s boys become men.”
“It would be a travesty to deny our players the mentorship of Jamie Riggs by allowing him to walk away when he clearly possesses everything we are looking for in a head coach,” Varner said.
“No one is better qualified to fill Jamie Riggs’ shoes than himself. He knows what it takes – and he has what it takes – to lead the TR Miller football program to continued success.”
Riggs has been the head coach at T.R. Miller for 27 years. He currently has 305 wins, 293 at TRM.
