Batteries, duct tape, coolers and a lot more tax-free items this weekend across most of Alabama this weekend.

The annual February tax holiday is meant to encourage people to prepare for severe weather, something people normally think about in spring.

Art Faulkner, director of the Alabama Emergency Management Agency, reminded residents “(storms) can happen any time in Alabama. The weather can change so rapidly.”

Many may be taking advantage of this weekend’s tax holiday after a wave of dangerous storms swept through the area earlier this week.
