Lady Tigers win three, drop two to Trinity in Andalusia

The T.R. Miller Lady Tigers competed was in tournament action this past weekend in Andalusia. Miller had a good showing, defeating Red Level, Andalusia and Kinston, while dropping two games to Trinity.

 

Trinity 8, TRM 2

Trinity packed on three runs in the first inning and five runs in the fifth inning to pick up the victory.

Miller scored in the first inning, off a Taylor Austin single to leftfield and Madison Douglas single to centerfield in the third inning.

Mallori Floyd was 2-for-2 at the plate to lead Miller.

Austin suffered the loss in the circle, allowing eight runs, two earned, on four hits, four walks and four strikeouts.

 

Red Level 2, TRM 13

Miller had big offensive innings in the second and third, scoring seven in the former and six runs in the later. Red Level scored two runs in the third inning.

Mallori Floyd had two hits, including a grand slam over the left field fence in the second inning. Floyd had six RBIs in the game. Madison Douglas was 2-for-3 with an RBI.

Taylor Austin struck out seven batters to earn the win from the circle.

 

TRM 6, Andalusia 2

Taylor Austin led Miller at the plate and on the mound. Austin had three hits and two RBIs. Pitching, Austin allowed only two runs on eight hits with four strikeouts. Myra Reiss also had a stellar game for Miller, going 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs. Mary Madison Brown had a hit and RBI.

 

Kinston 2, TRM 9

Miller put up two runs in the opening inning. Kinston responded with two runs in the top of the second with a double by Courtney Lunsford and single by Lexi Smith.

Miller bounced back with three runs in the bottom of the inning with a double by Grace Ruzic to score Morgan Longmire. Ruzic would score later in the inning of a single by Mallori Floyd. Floyd scored later in inning off a single by Madison Douglas. Miller scored four more runs in the fourth inning.

Pitcher, Taylor Austin got the win for Miller.

 

Trinity 12, TRM 4

Miller was only able to muster three hits in the defeat. Myra Reiss had a double and an RBI. Madison Douglas and Grace Ruzic had a hit. Taylor Austin had an RBI.

Austin suffered the loss on the mound. Reiss came in for relief of Austin in the second inning and allowed five runs, three earned on six hits, with three strikeouts.

 

The Lady Tigers are 15-11 for the season. The team has two remaining regular season games, both on the road, versus W.S. Neal on April 26 and Monroe County on April 28.
