Nelson to compete in NCAA championships in Oregon

Nelson will compete in 1,500 meter run
Brewton native Karisa Nelson of Samford University advanced to the NCAA DI Outdoor Track and Field Championships after recording qualifying marks at the NCAA East Preliminaries.
Nelson will make her first career appearance at the championships after having placed third overall in the women’s 1,500 meter run. Nelson raced her way to a time of 4:15.12.
“Karisa keeps impressing us every time she takes the track,” said head coach Rod Tiffin. “She beat some of the best women in the country this weekend. I can’t wait to see her race in Eugene, (Oregon).”
Nelson has had a sensational outdoor season so far as she has broken the Samford school-record in the 1,500-meter event twice.
The 2016 Track and Field Championships will be in Eugene, Ore., also known as TrackTown USA.
Nelson will compete in the 1,500 meter women’s semifinal Thurs., June 9 at 2:46 p.m. CT. Time subject to change.
The 1,500 meter women’s final will be Sat., June 11 at 1:41 p.m. CT. Time subject to change.
