Dawgs win big in Andalusia
Winton, Shell dazzle on the mound
The Brewton Dawgs went undefeated this past weekend in Andalusia at Lurleen B. Wallace Park. Brewton brought its A-plus games on the mound and at the plate, blowing out Covington County 11-0 in game one, and Greenville 13-1 in game two.

Joshua Winton was a force to be reckoned with on the mound. Winton surrendered only two hits in five innings of work. He had six strikeouts and two walks.
Russell Smith led the team at the plate, going 3-for-3 with three RBIs and two runs scored. Dalton Shell was 2-for-3 with three RBIs and one run scored. Chris Jones was 2-for-2 with two runs scored. Jacobey Hawthorne had a hit, an RBI and two runs scored. Derrick Barton had a hit and scored a run. O’Neil White had was 1-for-3 with an RBI and run scored. Winton had an RBI.

Dalton Shell had a no-hitter through 4 2/3 innings before finally surrendering a hit. Shell had two strikeouts and allowed one unearned run on one hit.
O’Neil White led Brewton at the plate with a 2-for-2 game. White had two RBIs and scored two runs. Malcolm Hawthorne was 1-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs scored. Jacobey Hawthorne was 1-for-1 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Joshua Winton, Derrick Barton, Micah Flores and P.J. Lovelace each had a hit. Winton and Lovelace scored two runs each. Barton and Flores each scored a run.
Locals named to All-State
Four local athletes from T.R. Miller and W.S. Neal were named to the Class 3A and 4A all state teams.... read more
