Eagles show strong performance versus Flomaton

Riddle strikes out nine, Bosarge collects three hits in win

The W.S. Neal Blue Eagles varsity baseball team grabbed an early lead by the second inning and never looked back on its way to an 11-2 victory over Flomaton this past Friday. Neal’s Hunter Revel singled to left field in the top of the first to score leadoff hitter Jacobey Hawthorne. The Eagles scored its second run of the inning on a pass ball.

Flomaton responded in the bottom of the inning with a single by Jackson Steele that drove in two runs.

The Eagles added another run in the third inning on another pass ball by Flomaton.

Neal exploded for four runs in the fourth inning with singles by Kristian Taylor, Aaron Bosarge, Jennings Hobbs and a pass ball. The Eagles scored four more insurance runs in the top of the six inning, with the biggest blow being a double to left field by Weston Riddle.

The Eagles collected 11 hits as a team. Bosarge, Hobbs, Riddle and Taylor each collected multiple hits. Bosarge went 3-for-3 at the plate with a double and RBI to lead the team.

Riddle earned the win on the mound for the Eagles. He tossed five and two-thirds innings, surrendered two runs, two hits and struck out nine. Matthew Hutchins came on in relief of Riddle in the fifth inning, allowing no runs, two hits and striking out two.

Cole Brown took the loss on the mound for Flomaton. He pitched four innings, gave up seven runs, on eight hits, one walk and struck out four.

Neal is 3-2 for the season.
