The Brewton Area YMCA will have opening day fo Cal Ripken Boys’ baseball and Dixie Girls’ softball this Saturday. Official welcome will begin at 8:30 a.m. followed by team introduction at 8:40. The 2016 12U  Cal Ripken District Champs will be recognized. The ceremonial first pitch will be thrown at 8:55 a.m.with games starting at 9:10 a.m.

The 10U boys will play on Field B. Scheduled matchups are:

• 9:10 a.m., Cubs vs. Mets;

• 10:30 a.m., Mets vs. Marlins; and,

• 11:50 a.m., Marlins vs. Cubs.

The 12U boys will play on Field C. Scheduled matchups are:

• 9:10 a.m., Reds vs. Giants;

• 10:30 a.m., D’backs vs. Reds; and,

• 11:50 a.m., Giants vs. D’backs.

The 10U girls will play on Field A. Scheduled matchups are:

• 9:10 a.m., Gators vs. Tigers;

• 10:30 a.m., Tigers vs. Fighting Hearts; and,

• 11:50 a.m., Fightings Hearts vs. Gators.

The 12U girls will play on Field D. Scheduled matchups are:

• 9:10 a.m., Red Raiders vs. Wildcats; and,

• 10:30 a.m., Wildcats vs. Red Raiders.

Opening Day games will not count toward league standings.
