City officials announced Monday that area residents are invited to attend a dedication ceremony at Dogwood Hills to acknowledge the generous gift from Georgia Pacific to underwrite the cost of the new playground equipment.

Rainbow Dragon Playground was first established in a grassroots project involving pediatrician Dr. Marsha Raulerson and a group of parents including Cindy Waldrep, JoJo Horton, Mitzi Whittle, Margaret Cotten and Becky Jordan.

The original equipment was replaced this year after completing the manufacturers specified time of viability. The ceremony will take place on Thurs., May 18, at 10:30 a.m. at the playground.
