The T.R. Miller Class of 2017 valedictorian and salutatorian are Maggie Rowell and Mary Allison Peace.

Rowell, the daughter of Michael and Dana Rowell, earned a 4.51 grade point average.

While excelling in the classroom, she earned a number of academic and extracurricular accolades at TRM, including student government association treasurer, National Honor Society president, majorette line co-captain, and Distinguished Young Woman of Escambia County.

She plans to attend Auburn University and later a master’s degree from Sanford University to become as a certified registered nurse anesthetist.

Her dream job is to work as a CRN anesthetist at the Children’s Hospital in Birmingham.

“The sooner you make your college decision, the less stressful your senior year will be,” Rowell said as advice to students. “Work hard until the very end but never forget to have fun and soak in every moment.”

Peace, the daughter of David and Gail Peace, said she enjoyed her time in high school.

“My favorite memories of all include how much I loved being a T.R. Miller cheerleader,” Peace said. “I loved getting to cheer the players out of the field house after a win!”

As salutatorian, Peace finished with a 4.5 grade point average. Her academic and extracurricular achievements include the National Honor Society, cheerleading captain, math team, choir, and Character-In-Action award recipient.

She plans to attend Troy University in the fall on a scholarship to major in secondary education literature with a minor in physical education.

Peace said the best advice she can give to future seniors is to put your best effort forward in whatever you set out to do.

“Make the best of your opportunities and cherish each moment that passes,” Peace said.

TRM will host graduation Thursday at 6 p.m. in the Woodfin Auditorium at Coastal Alabama Community College.
