The Brewton Standard wins big at press contest

The Brewton Standard is proud to announce seven preliminary wins in the Alabama Press Association’s annual Better Newspaper Contest.
This year, 74 newspapers submitted 2,753 entries in the annual contest, which was judged by the Georgia Press Association.
These awards, along with the contest’s top awards, will be presented on Sat., July 8, at the 2017 APA Summer Convention at the Perdido Beach Resort in Orange Beach.
Wins included:
third place in best sports in-depth coverage for “2016 All County Team” by Corey Williams;
second place in best news photos for “We need her home” by Stephanie Snodgrass;
second place in best special section (newsprint) for “The Zone” by Corey Williams;
first place in best online breaking news coverage for “Brooke Bridges: Missing” by Stephanie Snodgrass;
second place and third place respectively for best use of social media for Friday Night Lights football coverage by Corey Williams and general news coverage by Stephanie Snodgrass; and,
first place in best magazine for “brewton: the magazine.”
