A Uriah man is in the hospital after falling off of a bridge near the Little River State Park, according to the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office.

Chief Deputy Mike Lambert said the incident happened in the early morning hours of Sun., July 2.

Lambert said Jeffrey Wayne Kelley, of 250 Hunters Lane, Uriah, attended a family reunion and never came home.

Lambert said his family found Kelley’s car on the side of the road, and looked around the car for him.

“At 10:30 (a.m.), his brother called,” he said. “He said (Kelley) was hurt.”
Lambert said Kelley attempted to walk across a bridge just down from where his car was located and fell off of it. Kelley had been at the bottom of the bridge since 2 a.m., he said.

Lambert said Kelley texted his brother to let him know that he was hurt, and added that LifeFlight took him to a nearby hospital.

Lambert said Kelley may be paralyzed from the waste down because he said he couldn’t feel his legs.
