T.R. Miller cross-country competed in Loxley this past weekend in the sectional meet for 3A competition.

The Tigers did not disappoint, seeing the girls finish first overall out of seven teams and the boys finish second overall out of nine teams.

Olivia Blackmon has proved time and time again that she is one of the top runners in the state, and her first place finish in the sectional meet only furthered that argument. Her time of 19:51.30 was nearly two minutes ahead of the second place finisher.

The girl’s team had six racers finish in the top 12 out of 48, including Blackmon. Following her was Jordan Thompson in 4th (22:11), Rebecca Ann Moore in 6th (22:33), Celeste Thomas in 8th (22:42), Madison Lum in 10th (23:01), Elisabeth Coleman in 11th (23:02), Samantha Morris in 12th (23:09) and Sydney Lucas in 24th (25:16).

The boys received great performances from Rider Jernigan and Tailand Mitchell, who finished 5th and 7th out of 84, respectively. Jernigan finished with a time of 18:29.90 and Mitchell finished at 18:39.70.

Following up was Tanner McDaniel in 12th (19:01), Tucker McDaniel in 18th (19:38), Sam Kelley in 19th (19:41), Brooks Feeley in 21st (19:49), Tyler Thomas in 23rd (19:53), Micah Flores in 29th (20:21), Joe Lutrell in 42nd (21:08) and Justus Bailey in 59th (22:41).

The two teams will compete this Saturday at the state meet in Cullman.
