Looking ahead: WSN vs. Alabama Christian

W.S. Neal is set to take on Alabama Christian in Montgomery tonight in round two of the 4A playoffs.

Last week, W.S. Neal defeated No. 6 Munford in dominant fashion, bringing its overall record on the season to 6-5.

After winning its first seven games, ACA dropped two in a row to St. James and Catholic Montgomery. In round one the team defeated an injury riddled Northside team, 33-28 to bring its record to 9-2.

The teams have no common opponents on the season. Bare down on this one, as there is a relation between the two teams. ACA was destroyed by St. James, 49-14. St. James lost in a close game to Bayside Academy, 15-12. Bayside Academy beat T.R. Miller 17-14. W.S. Neal beat TRM 27-17. That is a lot to take in, but it shows in favor of the Eagles.

With all of that being said, folks are still doubting WSN. Don’t buy into it.

ACA leans on the run, working with an option between an athletic quarterback and running back. The Eagles run defense has been a strong point over the course of the last three games, allowing less than 100 yards rushing per game against three teams with strong running games.

ACA does have a good all around team, scoring 34 points per game and allowing 21 per game.

If the Eagles can stop the option run, they will give themselves a good chance. Behind head coach Andro Williams, the team plays with a chip on its shoulder and has East Brewton fired up.

Prediction: WSN 27-7. I see the Eagles with a full head of steam, and a strong defensive front shutting down the run game. The offense is in full stride right now, as well.

With a victory, WSN would play the winner of Andalusia and St. James.

GO BIG BLUE!
